It's been months since I've turned my Wii U on. I just bought a used Pro Controller and wanted to test it out. I fired up my Wii U, walked away, and came back to an update screen at 98% and finished before I could do anything. Luckily, all my CFWs and backed up games on my external hdd still work. Checked my firmware version and its at 99.99.99 U. I believe I have a CFW that disables software updates, so this was a surprise. Not sure if anybody had run into this in the past, but wanted to throw it out there.

It also covers how you can use the FunKii-UI application to install content on IOSU. All of the files used are current as at the creation date of 28th November 2016. This includes the latest fw.img fork from Dimok that Enables your console to be region free after running IOSU. This exploit is great because it will enable your console to do all of the following things: - Make your Wii U region free - Install VC titles to your home menu - Install and use DLC for your Wii U backups - Install Wii U backups even if they came out exclusively on either the E-Shop or disc. - Install the Homebrew Launcher channel directly to your home menu. - All of this without needing RedNAND at all. I found most of the recent Wii U scene developments to be quite hard to wrap my head around at first, so I put this video together in hope of it being completely noob friendly and easy to follow. If you can make it through the steps in this video you'll be ready to make use of FlimFlams69's Haxchi guide in step 3 of the sticky in order to launch IOSU directly from the home menu on bootup.
