Does anyone else feel like they suck at playing video games in general and wonder why they still continue playing?
From Reddit saved post — r/truegaming, u/SkoivanSchiem, Aug 31 2017 https://www.reddit.com/r/truegaming/comments/6x4cu8/does_anyone_else_feel_like_they_suck_at_playing/ I look back at my last several years of gaming, and while I enjoyed a lot of the things that I've played, all signs point towards me being in the lower echelon of gamers as far as skill and achievements are concerned. * I'm close to 100 hours in PUBG but have never won a solo match. In the squad matches I've won, it would be easy to see that I really didn't contribute much of value. * I tried playing MGSV: The Phantom Pain stealthily but ended up just Rambo'ing the crap out of the enemies in the end. * I have hundreds of hours and hundreds of deaths in Binding of Isaac yet my Mom kills have only been a tiny fraction of that. * In the Dark Souls trilogy, there are so many bosses I can't kill without summoning help. * I tried my hand at speedrunning games, but after days of practice I couldn't pull off the tricks that speedrunners use to advance to areas quickly * I almost never play above normal difficulty because the few times that I've tried to do so, I just ended up getting frustrated. * I tried playing The Witness and The Talos Principle, but gave up midway because the difficulty of the puzzles just made my head hurt. * I sank several hundred hours into DotA 2 years ago, yet at the end of my DotA stint I was still being berated by randoms for my poor play. In spite of this, I still have so many games on my plate / backlog, and sometimes I wonder - why do I even bother when I feel like I'm so bad in games relative to other people? I guess the obvious response is that if it's fun, what other reason do I need to play, and I get that. Gaming is fun, but sometimes I also want that feeling of achievement that I only so rarely get. Doesn't anyone here feel the same way sometimes? What have been your reflections on it?
