Battleship (card game version) 3. Cribbage 4. Forbidden Island (co-op) 5. Labryinth 6. Ticket to Ride 7. Dominion 8. Carcassonne 9. Smallworld 10. Rivals of Catan 11. Hive 12. Galaxy Trucker 13. Castles of Burgundy 14. Star Realms 15. X-wing Miniatures Some of these are dedicated 2 player games, but most can be expanded to 4-5 players and make for great small group games as well. ------------- EDIT: So cool to see this many people into board games. To give a few mass replies about the original list. Labryinth (Ravensburger) is a fantastic gateway game for people just starting out and fun for board game veterans at the same time. Forbidden Desert, like Forbidden Island, is excellent too. **Rivals** of Catan is a dedicated 2 player version of Settlers and very nicely balanced. Star Realms is too high up on the list, putting it at 8 would probably have been better. Wife and I are just now getting into X-wing so we haven't hit "RIP money" yet, but I'm sure it will happen. Also soooo many "Cones of Dunshire" jokes... ------------- List part 2 - So many people replied with good suggestions. Here are the ones I can also attest to as being good in no particular order. 1. Jaipur 2. Othello 3. Agricola 4. Skipbo 5. Phase 10 6. Forbidden Desert (co-op) 7. Set & quiddler 8. Citadel's 9. Netrunner 10. Love Letter 11. Pass the pigs 12. Magic the gathering --------------- List part 3 - games suggested by multiple other commenters. I've heard excellent things about the first 3 in particular, but sadly I've never played them. 1.
