After trying a few existing designs, I found a lot of them either didn't work consistently, needed multiple parts, required extra clips, or were bulkier than they needed to be. So I made my own. When it detects motion, it sends an image to an external target detection backend. If the backend confirms a bird is in the frame, the turret aims the water gun and fires a short burst.

To make this I printed a long spiral tube of tpu and then put 2mm steel wire through it and sealed the end with a little heat. I’m in the process of developing a modular system using this technique (last photo) so if you’re interested in testing it out or if you have any ideas about how you’d use this kind of technique, please let me know!

Many filament clips extend beyond the spool and get in the way — this is exactly what CL1P avoids. I built my own filament dryer and needed a clip for the filament that keeps the filament inside the spool. So i quickly went into fusion and made my own design. Prints very easy and quick and only uses 0.3g. I printed in ASA because my dryer reaches 80+°C. ASA works fine here. From Reddit saved post — r/functionalprint, u/Satoer, Jan 19 2026 https://www.reddit.com/r/functionalprint/comments/1qh4ead/custom_3d_printed_dutch_rooftile/ Not the "usual" functional print, I had an unusual situation on my roof where four ridge tiles meet (We call them "Nokvorst"), so I made a 3D scan with my phone and created a custom corner tile in Fusion 360. I printed it in PETG, painted it to match the orange tiles, and cemented it on. It looks pretty clean (Especially on street level). I actually have some 3D printed PLA rain gutter adapters from 14 years ago that are still holding up fine, so even though I’m not sure exactly how long this PETG tile will last, it already survived 2 winters and 1 summer without any issues. My guess is it'll be there a long time. If not, I'll just print a new one. Scanning tip: I added a 10 x 10cm square block to the scanned object, so I could easily scale it to real world dimensions.
