Home Assistant has released a new Raspberry Pi image called Hassbian, based on Raspbian Lite, which comes pre-installed with everything needed to start using Home Assistant immediately. This image includes the MQTT broker Mosquitto, Bluetooth support, and GPIO pin access configured for the homeassistant user, though Mosquitto is not activated by default. The installation follows the same manual Home Assistant setup instructions, but Z-Wave support is not pre-compiled and must be added separately. The project is independent of the Raspberry Pi Foundation and aims to simplify Home Assistant setup on Raspberry Pi devices.
