page description:

StarTech’s MP3 AirLink is yet another wireless device that lets you beam music from your computer or audio player to a stereo system or powered speakers in another room. And, as reviewed by PC Magazine, it’s a fairly barebones system that nevertheless gets the job done under most circumstances. The system basically consists of a non-WiFi 2.4 GHz transmitter and receiver; plug the former into your audio source, the latter into your stereo system, and you’re done. PC Mag found the range to max out at about 40 feet, rather than the claimed 100, though your mileage may vary; the test was done in an urban apartment, not exactly an interference-free zone. And speaking of interference, turning on the microwave obliterated the sound, though that happens with plenty of other wireless devices. All in all, PC found the AirLink, at about $90, to provide reasonable value, as long as you don’t need the more sophisticated features provided by devices like the Roku SoundBridge or Slim Devices Squeezebox.
