Groundhog Day, a beloved fantasy romantic comedy starring Bill Murray, was released 31 years ago. The script originated from screenwriter Danny Rubin's idea about immortality and repeating time, eventually set on February 2nd, the actual Groundhog Day. Bill Murray was cast after other choices declined, but he faced challenges during filming, including conflicts with director Harold Ramis and an incident involving groundhogs requiring a rabies shot. Despite difficulties, the film became iconic, with memorable casting choices and notable behind-the-scenes stories.
