Since Apple removed the time remaining feature in macOS I decided to write a little utility to display battery status details. It also works on Linux and OpenBSD.

battstat is a shell script that provides a customizable CLI battery status indicator for macOS, Linux, and OpenBSD by displaying formatted battery information using icons and text. Users can personalize the charging and discharging symbols and the output format with printf-style tokens. It supports integration with macOS menu bars via tools like bitbar, enhancing usability. The script relies on system utilities like pmset, upower, and apm to gather battery data but may have issues on laptops with multiple batteries.
