NieR: Automata has a total of 26 endings and epilogues. The majority of them are silly joke endings that are not canon to the main story, while others offer a different perspective of the main story. Sometimes you will need to fulfill certain requirements to reach a specific ending, such as fully maxing out every weapon in the game or removing an item from your inventory.

You can see multiple endings during one playthrough depending on what you do, but a select number of ending will need you to complete the game at least one time or discover a previous ending to reach them.

Note: When you beat NieR: Automata for the first time, you will get ending A on your save file. Saving the game after you beat it the first time will enable the ability to begin a second playthrough. You get to keep all of your levels, equipment, and inventory; however the levels will be slightly different compared to your first playthrough.

The same rules and steps apply to start your third playthrough, which is required for some endings! Your third playthrough will be different than the previous two times in a variety of ways.

Individual Video Endings

Ending A

  • Complete the game for your first time.

  • Continue from your save file after completing ending A.

  • During your third playthrough, choose A2 during the final boss. Then select the dialogue option "No" to POD's request during the end credits.

  • During your third playthrough, pick 9S during the final battle before selecting the dialogue choice "I'll go with you."

  • After completing either C or D's ending, say "Yes" to POD's request, and then complete a mini-game.
