I have multiple AC units at home, 3 brands Mitsubishi Daikin LG, this product works with none... Very disappointed with the compatibility. Very limited... Plus its annoying to add and use IR commands, many time it learns wrong! Really upset they don't make decent IR with decent compatibility... Better off with Harmony for multimedia, and forget about IR AC units...

I use this with a Harmony remote to turn my entertainment system off at the wall, instead of just putting the devices into standby. No more constantly-glowing LEDs, and no more power-sucking idle devices (a Kill-A-Watt pegged my setup at 30W when off!).
The setup procedure has several steps. Follow the directions to the letter.
The device works as advertised. The adhesive on the bottom of the receiver will not be enough to affix it in place securely - but rolled-up duct or electrical tape will do the job. The credit card remote which comes with it is unobtrusive, but I use my universal remote instead. The device can learn NEC VCR remote codes, and since I don't have an NEC VCR, that's enough for me - I don't care which other codes are "compatible".
The pricing of this unit is, like all of the specialized Insteon gear, quite a bit on the high side. But you get what you pay for.

I could only get the recieiever to toggle x10 devices (on <-> off). Following the IR to x10 learning procedure I couldn't associate an IR command with a descrete ON or OFF command, it would only toggle the x10 devices state.

Normally I am a fan of all things Insteon but this device wouldn't work for me. I had no problems programming it, but it would not turn anything on with IR. It may just be the emitter that it comes with as some others have noted but I didn't want to hassle with ordering a separate one to experiment with.

I have a Logitech Harmony 900 Rechargeable Remote with Color Touch Screen that I use to control the AV equipment (and now the lights) in the lower level of my house. We live in an old house that has a very open lower level floor plan - it was built before TV's dominated peoples living space. We decided that we were going to have our main A/V setup in our formal living room, instead of a basement or special TV room. Why waste a beautiful room. The bad part is that there are lots of lights including recessed cans, table lamps, and ceiling fixtures in neighboring rooms which. Setting up the "perfect" lighting scheme for a movie or TV show requires turning off 3 switches, and dimming another 4 to a reasonable level. With the 2411R, and Insteon switches and dimmers I can now do this all from my remote control. It works great - never have to reboot this thing, and is even compatible with X10 devices, which I used a number of appliance modules for XMAS lights and then created a button on my Harmony 900 labeled XMAS Lights which toggled them on an off.
It is pricey, so I hope it will last.

After receiving the IRLinc I tried to program it to the remote control of my new LG Ductless Heater/AC system. I followed the instructions and could not get it to work. I tried calling Insteon for help and after waiting for 20 minutes on the phone, The Tech told me I need to input the X10 language. I am not computer literate so he toltally lost me. After reading the reviews on this transmitter I find that I am not alone and even the IT guys are having a problem. I am sending this item back.

I had to order this device twice because the first time I could not get it to work. It was purchased to control three separate Insteon dimmer switches (2477D switches) in my home theater. You have to follow the instructions to the tee.
But more importantly, you have to make sure that the dimmer switches or whatever it is that you seek to control with the 2411r is on the same power line as the 2411r. Essentially, this means that your dimmer switches need to be on the same line of the electrical wiring that goes back to your electrical panel.
As I understand it and I'm not an electrical person, typically, electrical panels are split into two sides (120v per side) which splits the panel in half (240v total). So your 2411r HAS to be plugged into an outlet that is wired to the same side of the panel as your dimmer switch.
Otherwise, the 2411r cannot communicate with the dimmer switches because they communicate through the power lines. So if they are on different side of the panel, there is a break in the line and you won't be able to get the 2411r to work.
I was trying to program the 2411r to dimmer switches in my home theater. I had the 2411r plugged into an outlet directly below the dimmer switches and I could not get it to program. I tried and tried to no avail. I ended up returning the unit. I then reordered the 2411r after reading numerous posts on how easy it was to program.
I received the next unit and same issue. I couldn't get it to program and something told me to try another outlet so I plugged the 2411r into another outlet across the room and low and behold, it worked!! I then tried other working plugs in the room and it would program on some and not on the others.
So I did some research and figured out why, which I have explained above in this post. I wanted to take the time to explain this to help others trying to figure out why their 2411r won't program as advertised. The unit it awesome once you get it programmed and programming is easy minus the power line issue. Also, if there is no convenient available outlet on the same power line, Insteon (and Amazon) also sells a bridge unit that plugs into an outlet and it will create a bridge between the two sides of the power line thereby enabling the 2411r to be programmed despite being on a different side of the power line as the dimmer switches. Great product. Good luck.
