I'm getting ready to install a 5v regulator in my gameboy pocket. I have already installed a backlight using This Does Not Compute's guide as found here:

The clearest guide I can find for the 5v regulator is here:

Two questions...

  1. Unlike the imgur guide, my Pin 6 is encased in a plastic block and can't be easily removed. Is there another way to install the regulator without removing anything from the board?
  2. Both the youtube and the imgur guide tell me to solder to the same contact (labelled VI on imgur). Am I going to have to wire the screen differently?

Thank you!

Here are pictures of my pocket:

Here I have sloppily but successfully installed a backlight as per This Will Not Compute. The blue wire connects to the same place as "VI" in the 5v regulator guide mentioned earlier.

Unlike the imgur regulator guide, my Pin 6 is surrounded by white plastic. Is there a way to install the regulator without sawing through that plastic?
