Temperatures are painfully frigid across much of the country, so it's important to protect your skin and eyes and dress effectively to stay warm. This infographic shows us the three layers that can keep you insulated outdoors.

The graphic was created by Column Five Media in tandem with Icebreaker, makers of Merino wool clothing. So it's heavy on the suggestions for wearing Merino wool, but the graphic still points out the three kinds of layers you should consider: the base layer to wick moisture away, a mid layer to trap heat, and a waterproof outer layer for protection against the cruel elements. In addition to tips like avoiding synthetic fabrics, one important note is to use an outer layer with zippers and vents to let in air, lest you get too hot and perspiration gets trapped inside your jacket.
