I've googled this question around, and can't seem to find a solution. Too many keywords I guess.

I want to perform certain actions if, say, a friend's phone enters wifi. I want to know who it is, based off of something like their MAC address, and perform an action based off of that. How can I get started with this initial problem of knowing if a certain device enters the home network?
